Khawalissa
Drag Belly Dancer
In 1834, Egyptian ruler Mohammed Ali outlawed the female Ghawazee dancers from
C
airo. Soon young males appeared
disguised as women to take their place; and emulate their dance, some of them
projecting the dance to be more salacious than that of the women, they were
known as Khawals.
Khawalissa, takes from phenomena and combines it with the costume and dance of the modern cabaret belly dancer, to exercise his skills for you and your patrons, based on Egyptian balidi, the basis of modern belly dance, together with other Middle Eastern styles. From the wonder of the veil to the thrill of the sword, Khawalissa can bring excitement to your special occasion or venue.
